Finn's Place namesake

Can we tell you a story?

Once upon a time, not that long ago, lived a handsome cat called Finn.  Finn wasn't born into an easy life, like many of us, and he found himself on hard times.  It's common 'lore that cats can get a piece at anyone's door but Finn was finding life harder than other cats. It seemed he was lurching from hard day to the next. He meowed his best meow yet still no-one seemed to notice him, or that he was cold, lonely and very fed up.

Until one day, he spotted 2 kind looking souls (he later found out these humans were called David & Susan - David being the minister at Langside Church at the time).  Finn followed them home, hopeful that they might leave their door ajar so he could sneak inside to warm his weary bones.

It turned out this lovely couple had spotted Finn too and gladly welcomed Finn into their home, where he filled his belly with good food and slowly but surely rebuilt his strength and trust in the messy but magical thing called life.

Finn grew from strength to strength and began to wander the streets of Battlefield with new found confidence and sass - knowing he is loved and belongs, a valued part of the community.

Langside Church - our first partner!

There are lots of different types of churches and faiths - all of them share a common purpose, to share a message of love & kindness and how special life is.  Langside Church (the one Finn's 'daddy' was minister of) is an affirming Church of Scotland church which means they are on a mission to be a safe and welcoming space where everyone regardless of belief, background, sexuality or gender can explore their faith without pressure while feeling included in their community.

As part of their outreach they set up a wellbeing project for the wider community.  This has evolved over time and is now a charity in it's own right.  Finn's Place was born out of the generosity of the congregation of Langside Church who, as part of their faith in action, want to share their church building with the wider community so that everyone has a safe space, like Finn found, to pause and be supported to find and be encouraged to pursue their own unique pathway to wellbeing.
